Manage your unsubscribe list

Short answer

Click Unsubscribed in the menu on the left. The list applies to the whole account and shows every email address and domain that LeadJabber will not send to. Contacts who click the unsubscribe link in your emails are added automatically. You can also add one address, a whole domain or a CSV or Excel file of addresses yourself.

Open the unsubscribe list

Click Unsubscribed under Audience in the menu on the left.

The list has four columns: When (the date the address or domain was added), Email or Domain, Category (email or domain) and Sequence (the sequence the contact unsubscribed from). Use Search to check whether an address is on the list.

The list applies to the whole account. An address on the list gets no emails from any sequence, whichever user owns it.

What happens when a contact unsubscribes

Every email from a sequence includes an unsubscribe link, unless you have turned it off. When a contact clicks the link, LeadJabber adds the address to the unsubscribe list automatically. LeadJabber does not send to addresses on the list.

Add an email address

Use this when a contact asks by reply or phone not to be contacted again.

  1. Click Add, then Add an e-mail.

  2. Enter the email address and save it.

When you read a reply in the Engager, you can also check Add contact to unsubscribed list in Set Status. See Handle replies in the Engager.

Add a whole domain

Use this when a company asks not to be contacted at all, or for domains you never want to email, such as your own customers or partners.

  1. Click Add, then Add a domain.

  2. Enter the domain, for example example.com, and save it.

LeadJabber then stops all emails to every address at that domain.

Import a list of addresses

If you already have an unsubscribe or do-not-contact list from another tool, click Import and upload it as a CSV or Excel file. Importing it before your first campaign makes sure nobody who opted out earlier is contacted again.

Remove an address from the list

Select the address or domain in the list and click Remove Selected. Only do this if it was added by mistake, and before LeadJabber sends anything more to that contact.

Do not click Clear Unsubscribed unless you mean to empty the whole list. It removes every address and domain from the unsubscribe list. LeadJabber asks you to confirm first, but once the list is cleared, contacts who opted out can receive your emails again.

Two settings in each sequence control the link. Open the sequence in the Sequence Builder, click Settings and Save and find Unsubscribe Settings:

  • Include the default unsubscribe link in all my emails adds the link to every email in the sequence. It is on by default.
  • Use the custom unsubscribe text for this account if available uses your own wording for the link instead of the default text. It is on by default.

Write your own unsubscribe text

  1. On the Unsubscribed page, click Customize Unsubscribe Link. Custom Unsubscribe Link opens.

  2. Write your text in the text field. Put {{ and }} around the words that should be the link, for example: If you no longer wish to receive emails from us, you can unsubscribe by {{clicking here}}. If you do not mark any words, the whole text becomes the link.

  3. Check Enabled and click Save.

The text is used in every sequence where Use the custom unsubscribe text for this account if available is on. Write it in the same language as your emails.

Keep the unsubscribe link on. An easy way to opt out is required by law in many countries for business email, and it protects your sending reputation: a contact who cannot unsubscribe is more likely to mark your email as spam.

When to contact support

Contact us if a contact on the unsubscribe list still receives emails from a sequence. Email support@leadjabber.com with the email address and the name of the sequence.
